#SitholeForPremier: Jane Sithole and Makashule Gana to conduct service delivery oversight in Botleng

9th November 2018

Today, Friday 9 November 2018, the Mpumalanga Premier Candidate, Jane Sithole and the DA Team One South Africa Spokesperson on Basic Services, Makashule Gana, will conduct an oversight inspection to Botleng informal settlement in Delmas where the wastewater treatment plant has been standing idle while waste is discharged.

The delegation will walk door to door in Botleng to reach the adjoining wetland, inspecting the impact and smell of sewage and untreated waste.

The town of Delmas, which falls under the Victor Khanye Local Municipality in Mpumalanga, has experienced an ongoing water crisis for over a decade. Repeated outbreaks of water-borne disease and contaminated water have not been addressed by the municipality.

Botleng township is especially affected, where the surrounding area is choked by raw sewage.

Only the DA can bring change that builds One South Africa for All and speeds up the delivery of services.

Details of the inspection are as follow:

Date: Friday 9 November 2018
Time: 11am
Meeting point: Victor Khanye Municipal Offices in Delmas
Address: Corner of Van Der Walt St and Samuel Roads, Delmas

The media is invited to attend the oversight inspection.
