SADTU: SADTU statement on the passing away of Northern Cape Education MEC

SADTU in the Northern Cape is shocked and saddened by the untimely passing away of MEC Griezelda Cjiekella-Lecholo.

Since her deployment to the Department of Education in 2009, MEC Griezelda truly ensured that the transformation agenda was accelerated.
She spearheaded better conditions of service for Early Childhood (ECD) Practitioners including infrastructure to those centres throughout the province, and many programmes to assist educators in their classroom challenges.

We will miss her engaging character, tenacity and passion for consultation on key education matters.

We lower our flag in memory of this giant. The education fraternity has lost a true compatriot for education.  We also wish to comfort the family and the mass democratic movement during this difficult period.
As SADTU we will ensure that her legacy and vision continues to live on.SADTU in the Northern Cape is shocked and saddened by the untimely passing away of MEC Griezelda Cjiekella-Lecholo.
