SADTU NATIONAL PICKET

25th May 2016

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) will hold a national picket at the headquarters of the Department of Basic Education to demand the review of Post Provisioning Norms.

The national picket is a culmination of pickets held at the Department of Education’s district and provincial offices, across the country, by the Union in the month of May. SADTU recognises that the current Post Provisioning Model results in the direct perpetuation of historical inequalities in education. Educators from particularly rural and township schools continue to teach more learners per class as compared to their counterparts in Former Model C schools.

The national picket will take place as follows:
Date: Thursday, 26 May 2016
Time: 11h00  until 14h30
Venue: Sol Plaatjie House, 222 Struben Str, Pretoria (Department of Basic Education)
