The South African Communist Party conveys its message of heartfelt condolences to the Party’s General Secretary, Cde Blade Nzimande, also the Minister of Higher Education and Training, and his family for the sore loss of his mother, Mrs Nozipho Nzimande.

The General Secretary’s mother passed on yesterday, Sunday 11 June 2017 after celebrating her 90th birth day last month, May 2017.

Mrs Nozipho Nzimande was an activist in her own right. As part of her contribution to our struggle for our liberation and social emancipation she used her home to receive SACP and ANC cadres during the violent period that affected the Midlands in KwaZulu-Natal in the 1980s and 1990s.

In honour of Mrs Nozipho Nzimande and other fallen women stalwarts of our struggle we need to forge the broadest possible patriotic front to defend and deepen our democracy and build a vibrant, progressive women’s movement.
