SACP Gauteng: SACP-COSATU Gauteng 2019 Voter Readiness Campaign Warmly Received In Dobsonville

The joint South African Communist Party (SACP) and Congress of South African Trade Union (COSATU) Voter Readiness Campaign has been warmly welcomed by the residents of Dobsonville, Soweto and surrounds.

The SACP-COSATU Red Brigades painted the streets around Dobsonville Shopping Centre red, listening and raising awareness about the importance of voters to check their details with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) ahead of the 2019 Provincial and National Elections to be held in May.

The campaign is part of the Voter Readiness Campaign led by SACP and COSATU in Gauteng. The 2nd phase of the campaign targets working class communities, especially townships. It has already been to Pan Africa Mall in Alexandra and moved to Jabulani Mall in Soweto and Eldorado Park.

During the first phase, the campaign criss-crossed inner cities across the province and visited Johannesburg in August. It also went to Kempton Park, the City of Tshwane, Randfontein, Germiston and concluded in Vereeniging in October.

The Voter Readiness Campaign and the Red Brigades will continue engaging with working class communities across the province to urge them to check if they appear on the voter’s roll, confirm their physical address with the Independent Electoral Commission.

The SACP and COSATU call on working class communities to take advantage of the upcoming voter registration weekend between the 26 and 27 of January 2019.

The SACP and COSATU continue to call on the working class to stay united behind the revolutionary banner led by the ANC to continue the struggle against corruption, unemployment and poverty.
