SACCI welcomes the appointment of the commission of inquiry into state capture as announced by President Zuma.

As this is a matter that has caused concern and an anxiety in the South African body politic, we hope that the commission will get on with its work unhindered and ventilate all issues and allegations of state capture that have occupied the minds of South Africans including through the report of the public protector.

We urge the commission to be resolute in getting the investigation under way and get the necessary resources allocated to conduct as a speedy and diligent investigation under way as a matter of urgency.

We reiterate and support South Africa’s constitutional democracy with the rule of law at its epicentre and hope that at the end of this investigation, the necessary corrective action and remedies will be clearly defined so that this painful negative experience is not repeated again.
