The Department of Water and Sanitation invites the media to the SA Youth Water Prize Awards take place on Friday, 20 May 2016. The annual event is aimed at enhancing the interest of the youth in Science and Technology. The participants identify problems that are related to water in their schools or communities with a view to initiate and conduct research and recommend solutions that solve the identified problems. The competition has two categories, mainly the Awareness and Invention categories. An experienced panel of judges adjudicates the competition and the winning learners will travel to Sweden to participate in the prestigious Stockholm Junior Water Prize. The winners are also awarded bursaries to study civil engineering and other water science courses.
