SA: Statement by the Presidency, President Zuma to attend CAR Summit (01/04/2013)

President Jacob Zuma will attend the Extra-ordinary Summit of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) to discuss developments in the Central African Republic, on 3 April 2013.

The President will be accompanied by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Minister of State Security, Dr Siyabonga Cwele and the Minister of Defence, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa Nqakula.

The Summit has been convened by the ECCAS chairperson, His Excellency Mr Idriss Deby Itno, President of the Republic of Chad.

On the 2nd of April, President Zuma will address the memorial service in honour of the 13 South African soldiers who died in Bangui.

President Zuma once again extends his sincere condolences to the families and relatives at this difficult time.
