COSATU: Statement by the Congress of South African Trade Unions in KwaZulu-Natal, supports today’s marches against genocide in Gaza (25/07/2014)

We should not underestimate, overlook and be complacent about the damages imperialism has caused and continue to cause to the poor people of the world. The genocide that is happening in Gaza by Israel and its masters of imperialism should not be tolerated by the global community.

For a very long time now, COSATU and the progressive forces in the country have been raising the urgent need to protect Palestinians from these monsters. The tense situation in Gaza, which has claimed hundreds of lives in the past few days could only be blamed to the ruthless system of capitalism and its masters.

We as part of the global community representing poor people say to Israel bosses now it’s enough, please they must come back to their senses, swallow their pride and stop killing of innocent people.

Let’s put our political differences aside as organizations, and together protect the poor people who are under attack in the Gaza Strip.

COSATU KZN supports the following marches:
Durban – from Grey Street to City Hall, starting at 13:30 by KZN Palestine Solidarity Forum.
Ladysmith – from Upper Marchison Street, starting 09:30 and handing of @ 12:00 and picketing thereafter, till 14:00 – by Palestinian Solidarity Campaign.

We urge affiliates and Locals to show solidarity support to the Palestinians through these activities.
