The newly formed Department of Women welcomes the appointment of Minister Susan Shabangu as its new political head and also takes this opportunity to wish both former Minister of the Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities Lulu Xingwana and her Deputy Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu well in their new roles.

The department would also like to congratulate the newly appointed women ministers and deputy ministers. Women empowerment is a critical vehicle towards gender equality. The fact that the composition of the fifth democratic administration has 15 women Ministers and 16 Deputy Ministers is a clear indication that gender parity remains a priority.
