SA: South African business delegation arrives in Kenya

South African business delegation has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya for the Trade and Investment Mission (TIM) scheduled to take place from 21 – 23 May 2018. The objective of the TIM is to deliver on the Department of Trade and Industry’s (the dti) investment-led trade approach towards the African continent and to deepen bilateral trade and investment relations between South Africa and Kenya, and between South Africa and Tanzania as important economies within their respective regions.

Welcoming the delegation on Sunday ahead of the TIM, The South African Counsellor Economic to Kenya, Mr Njabulo Mbewe said South African businesses must use a different strategy to promote trade and investment with Kenya businesses, which is an invest led trade strategy that will increase trade for both countries.

“This strategy will be informed by South African companies coordinating finance from South Africa to support Kenya in their projects in order to develop their economy and contribute towards intra- Africa trade,” said Mbewe.

The Business Development Manager for Rocktech Esizayo, Mr Olivia Fuka said the mission will give her company a chance to grow their earth moving equipment business in East Africa and also to penetrate the market particular in the mining space and infrastructure development.

She said for now, the company is concentrating on meeting potential clients and distributors in the mining sector and also partner with businesses in the same sector.
 
The Director for Rainbow Reservoirs, Mr Bruce Thompson said over the years the Kenyan businesspeople have showed interest in their water tank business and this mission will provide the right platform to demonstrate what they can offer to the market.
 
He said over and above the meetings that they will have in the country, they are looking forward to attract new clients, agencies and distributors for their water tanks.
 
The programme for the Kenya TIM will include business seminars, business-to-business meetings and site visits.
