The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) today requested National Treasury officials, who were in Parliament to brief the Committee on procurement through deviations, to leave due to the unavailability of the head of the Chief Procurement Office, the person responsible for accounting on deviations.

Members of Scopa have requested the Director-General of National Treasury and the Head of the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer to be present at the next meeting to brief the Committee on the presentation. This is in order for the people who are responsible for accounting at National Treasury to assist the Committee in regards to questions that might arise out of the presentation.

The Committee will schedule a meeting again with National Treasury as soon as possible. Scopa will this evening, after the National Assembly sitting, hold a hearing with the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) and South African Post Office (Sapo) on the social grant payment contract.
