SA: President Zuma wishes Mr Maharaj a speedy recovery

President Jacob Zuma has extended his good wishes to the veteran of the struggle for liberation and his former spokesperson Mr Mac Maharaj who is unwell.

Mr Maharaj was admitted to a hospital in Durban on Thursday 21st May where he underwent surgery for lung cancer. The operation was successful. Complications arose in the post operation conditions. A team of highly competent doctors and staff are focusing on stabilising his condition.

Updates on his medical condition will only be issued when there is significant change.

“We wish this veteran of our struggle all the best as he fights this new battle in his life. We wish him strength and a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and the family,’’ said President Zuma.

The Maharaj family would like to thank the media and the public for their support and plead for the understanding of the need to ensure maximum privacy for Mr Maharaj and the family during this time.
