SA: Parliament congratulates NCOP Chairperson on her installation as the CPUT Chancellor

Newly elected CPUT Chancellor Thandi Modise

Parliament is proud to congratulate the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) Chairperson Ms Thandi Modise on her installation as the Chancellor of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) today.

NCOP Chairperson Modise’s installation is one of the most appropriate ways of recognising her outstanding contributions in the struggle for a free South Africa and to building the ideal society envisaged in the Constitution of South Africa. We have no doubt that her association with the institution at such level will make a significant contribution, not only to the CPUT, but to the entire higher education sector currently undergoing a number of challenges.

Ms Modise’s appointment is also a welcome recognition of the important role played by the institution she co-leads, Parliament, during the year in which it commemorates the 20th anniversary of the NCOP and the signing of the Constitution.

We believe that her consummate passion for excellence, wealth of leadership experience and wisdom will contribute immensely in steering, to even greater heights of academic excellence, this reputable institution.

We wish her, the University Council and the academic staff under Vice Chancellor Dr Prins Nevhutalu well.
