SA: Minister Of Finance Mr Tito Mboweni Delivers Medium Term Budget Policy To National Assembly Tomorrow

Finance Minister Tito Mboweni

Minister of Finance Mr Tito Mboweni is scheduled to deliver the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) tomorrow in the National Assembly and to introduce the Adjustments Appropriation Bill, the Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill and the Taxation Laws Amendment Bill. The Division of Revenue Amendment Bill and the Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill will also be tabled and introduced.

The MTBPS sets out government’s three-year financial plans and communicates the economic context of the Budget Speech in February 2019. The MTBPS makes it possible for Parliament and the public to interact with government's budget plans ahead of the February national budget.

The Finance and Appropriations Committees of the National Assembly and National Council of Provinces consider and report to plenary sittings of the two Houses on the proposed fiscal framework, the proposed division of revenue and proposed grant allocations to provinces and local governments. Following this, plenary sittings of the Houses make decisions on the Division of Revenue Amendment Bill and the Adjustments Appropriation Bill.
