SA: Media statement on the investigations of the Head and Deputy Head of the Parliament Protection Services

On the 30 July 2015 both the Head and Deputy Head of Parliamentary Protection Services, were placed on precautionary suspension after allegations of serious misconduct.  The precautionary suspension was to ensure that the investigation into the said allegations proceeded without any hindrance and in a fair manner to the parties involved.

Subsequently, Parliament appointed an independent investigator to investigate the said allegations.  The investigations have now been concluded and the draft report has been submitted to Parliament.

The investigations have revealed allegations of breaches of security, insubordination and failure to carry out management responsibilities.

The report will now be submitted to the Head and Deputy Head of Protection Services for their comment, where after Parliament will determine which course of action to follow.

As internal processes are still underway, we wish to reiterate that communication on this matter will be limited to the processes that Parliament intends to follow.
