SA: Matric final exams

The Select Committee on Education and Recreation wishes learners well, especially the National Senior Certificate cohort of 2017, as they start their National Senior Certificate examinations.

“The work done throughout the year and in many preceding years has prepared them to do well in these exams. All that’s left is to continue with their preparations and focus on the goal of doing well in the exams,” said Ms Lungelwa Zwane, the Chairperson of the Committee.

The Committee has encouraged parents and guardians to continue encouraging learners as they enter this somewhat stressful period of examinations. Teachers must also continue to lend moral and informational support to the learners to ensure that they are optimally prepared for the examinations.

Above all, the Committee cautions learners against cheating. “We urge learners to be vigilant and to desist from any temptation to cheat the system in one way or another, because the repercussions can be devastating to their futures. Learners are also urged to report any cases if they arise,” Ms Zwane emphasised.

The Committee is hopeful that the department will roll out the examinations as planned and without any hindrance.
