The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Siphosezwe Masango, has extended sincere condolences to the United States citizens following a shameless attack on innocent civilians earlier in the week.

Mr Masango said Parliament is in full support of the message that President Jacob Zuma, as head of government, had sent in sympathising with the American people.

“This senseless random killing is not warranted and no one deserved to die in the manner these innocent lives have. The Committee, Parliament and the country will always advocate for the respect of the sanctity of life,” Mr Masango said.

Media reports from the United States indicated that over 500 people had been injured and close to 60 were killed when a gun-toting male randomly shot at civilians in Las Vegas on Monday. The incident has not yet been attributed to extremism.

Mr Masango said although the catastrophe could happen anywhere anytime, the world needed not stop putting emphasis on human values of tolerance as such efforts could reduce occurrences where human life is lost recklessly.
