SA: Communications Committee recommends five names to fill three vacancies at Icasa Council

The Portfolio Committee on Communications, having interviewed 13 candidates on 12 October 2017, has recommended five names to fill the three vacancies on the Council of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa).

In no particular order, they are Ms Nomonde Gongxeka-Seope, Ms Thembeka Simane, Ms Kate Skinner, Ms Lulama Mokhobo and Mr Rubben Mohlaloga.

“The Committee is confident that the recommended candidates possess the requisite skills pertinent to the task which include corporate governance, leadership, finance and legal. They also displayed thorough knowledge of the telecommunications and regulatory sector,” said Mr Humphrey Maxegwana, the Chairperson of the Committee.

The recommended names will be tabled in the National Assembly for final adoption, and then forwarded to the Minister of Communications for appointment.
