On Monday, the 20th February 2017 the Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), Honourable Ntombi Mekgwe will preside over the Official Opening of the Fourth Session of the Fifth Legislature, where in terms of Rule 14 of the Standing Orders, the Honourable Premier David Makhura will deliver the State of the Province Address at the Green Hills Stadium in Randfontein.

The Premier’s address will highlight the Gauteng Government’s programme of action and service delivery priorities for the year 2017 and beyond.

THE 2017 OPENING OF THE LEGISLATURE WILL TAKE PLACE AS FOLLOWS:
Date:               20 February 2017
Time:              09h00 (lifestyle programme) and 11h00 (SOPA Sitting)
Venue:            Greenhills Stadium (Randfontein)

The event will commence with a Morning Programme at 08h00 which includes red carpet interviews; arts entertainment; police parade; and the guard of honour among others. The House Sitting will commence at 11h00.


To obtain the required accreditation for the day’s proceedings, all members of the media are reminded to complete the attached screening template with their full details including: name and surname; ID number; and name of media company by Friday, 10th February 2017.

ACCREDITATION WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE GPL PRECINCT; CNR. CITY HALL & PRESIDENT STREETS, JOHANNESBURG CBD) – FROM THE 16TH UNTIL 18th FEBRUARY 2017. ID BOOKS AND PRESS CARDS WILL BE REQUIRED ON COLLECTION OF ACCREDITATION. THE PHOTO ACCREDITATION PROCESS REQUIRES EACH PATRON TO BE PRESENT FOR COLLECTION.

THERE WILL BE NO ACCREDITATION ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.
