The committee tasked with finding a replacement for Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is expected to meet for the last time on Tuesday.

The committee is due to finalise and adopt its report, which recommends Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane to fill Madonsela's shoes when her term ends in October.

The committee will then table the report to the National Assembly before it is considered on Wednesday, September 7, according to the parliamentary programme.

In their last meeting, political parties including the African National Congress, Economic Freedom Fighters, Inkatha Freedom Party and National Freedom Party endorsed Mkhwebane to be the recommended candidate, while the Democratic Alliance (DA) reserved its comment on the issue.

Speaking following the last meeting, committee chairperson Dr Makhosi Khoza expressed confidence that they would get the necessary 60% of votes to carry their nomination, despite reservations from the DA.
