Deputy President to deliver keynote address at Proudly SA Buy Local Summit

29th March 2016

Proudly South African is pleased to announce that it will host and bring together business and political heavyweights at its annual Buy Local Summit & Expo, which will take place at the Sandton Convention Center on Wednesday, 30 March, 2016.

Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa, will deliver the keynote address at the Summit which will be attended by a powerhouse of business leaders and owners, captains of industry, government leaders, entrepreneurs, economists, CEOs and procurement decision makers.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Rob Davies, Minister Lindiwe Zulu, and the Auditor General of South Africa, Mr. Kimi Makwetu, are also among speakers at the Summit.

“The Summit and Expo has grown into one of the most significant events on the country’s business calendar. It forms part of Proudly SA’s drive to promote local manufacturing and local businesses – and to encourage an increase in the uptake of local goods and services to stimulate the economy and create jobs,” said Proudly SA’s CEO, Adv. Leslie Sedibe.

The country’s flagship Buy Local event will also offer local manufacturers and enterprises an opportunity to showcase their goods and services, on a platform that has grown into one of South Africa’s most progressive and sought-after exhibition spaces.

Some 150 exhibitors will showcase their products and services. These range from small businesses and entrepreneurs to large corporates and even multi-nationals which have invested in the country by establishing local manufacturing bases and creating jobs.

The event will focus on productivity and competitiveness with an emphasis on Manufacturing, Agro Processing, Automotive, Pharmaceutical and Petrochemical sectors (“the MAP Program”).
Absa (a member of Barclays Africa Group Limited) has once again thrown its weight behind the Proudly SA Buy Local Summit & Expo, making it the premier sponsor of the event for the third consecutive year.

“Supporting economic growth and job creation is an integral part of the purpose of this prestigious event. It’s Proudly SA’s core function to promote local manufacturing and local businesses and encourage an increase in the uptake of locally produced products and services. We encourage the public to attend and - as a service to the country - entry will be free of charge,” said Adv. Sedibe.
Proudly SA hosts the annual event in line with its support for government’s commitments around localization and job creation as well as the New Growth Path and IPAP.
