Protection from Harassment Bill [B1 – 2010]

To provide for the issuing of protection orders against harassment; to amend the Criminal Procedure Act, 1955, so as to provide for an increase of the amount which may be fixed by a magistrate in respect of a recognizance as security to keep the peace; to effect consequential amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977; to amend the Domestic Violence Act, 1998, so as to provide a mechanism to subpoena witnesses to attend proceedings in terms of that Act; to effect consequential amendments to the Firearms Control Act, 2000; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
