PRESIDENT ZUMA TO ATTEND THE CELEBRATION OF COMMERCIALISATION OF UNITS AT INGULA PUMPED STATION

President Zuma will on Wednesday, 27 July 2016, attend the celebration of Commercialisation of Units at Ingula Pumped Station, in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal as part of government’s massive infrastructure development programme.

On 10 June 2016, Eskom announced that its Ingula Unit 4 had been commercialised and has further since successfully synchronised its last unit, Unit 1 to the National Grid on 16 June 2016.

The Ingula Unit 1, with its 333MW capacity, now completes the synchronisation of all the Ingula units totaling 1332MW ahead of time.

The Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme is Eskom’s capacity expansion programme, which also includes the two coal fired powered stations, Medupi in Lephalale, Limpopo and Kusile near Witbank in Mpumalanga.
