The Public Protector, Adv. Thuli Madonsela, welcomes the President’s willingness to engage regarding compliance with the remedial action she took at the conclusion of the investigation regarding the use of public funds for security and other upgrades at the President’s private homestead in Nkandla.

There are various issues flowing from the President’s proposal, which, she, together with her office and her legal team, wishes to take under consideration prior to committing to a formal position of the matter.

She will advise the President and file her formal response in the Constitutional Court in due course, at which stage she will also notify the public of her official stance on the matter.

Out of respect for the Constitutional Court and the pending formal process, she does not wish to address the public on the substance of the matter before having formally responded to the proposal.
