The Portfolio Committee on Police will tomorrow receive a presentation from the South African Police Service (SAPS) senior management team on its turnaround strategy. Following his appointment, the National Police Commissioner promised to brief the Committee on his plans to ensure effective policing.

“This is the realisation of that promise and an opportunity to elaborate on a few areas he highlighted during his first meeting with the Committee,” said Mr Francois Beukman, the Chairperson of the Committee.

The session will also include a briefing on the feedback on the safer festive season operation, as well as the police’s envisioned new management structure. Furthermore, recent policing issues such as the launch of Operation Fiela and protests in Krugersdorp will be discussed.
