OECD South Africa Economic Survey 2015 (July 2015)

The Economic Survey is the flagship publication of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The OECD Economic Survey South Africa 2015, the fourth edition since the first South African Survey was launched in 2008, reviews economic developments since 1994. The country’s progress in addressing its far-reaching socio-economic challenges is noted while the report also commends South Africa’s stable macroeconomic framework and the various reforms that are underway to improve the country’s infrastructure and support SMEs. However, some of the main findings of this report also cover the absence of inclusive growth due to insufficient growth of employment; as well as the need to expand South Africa’s narrow tax base. The report also makes several key overarching recommendations on the priorities for the achievement of strong, sustainable and inclusive growth in South Africa.
