The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) will hold a memorial service today of the late NUM member Melikhaya Phisana who was brutally killed at a peaceful picketing outside the Goodhope Construction site on Thursday, 14th May 2015 in Kraaifontein Cape Town.

Phisana died fighting against:
·         None Provision of Personal Protective Equipment;

·         Use of gangsters as site security

·         Endless layoffs without following proper procedure

·         None recognition of artisans

Melikhaya will be remembered in the ranks of the NUM as a committed, selfless, brave, loyal and dedicated worker's hero.

The  memorial service will be addressed by the following alliance leaders:

·         NUM Regional leadership

·         SACP Khaya Magaxa, Provincial Secretary

·         ANC- Marius Fransman, Provincial Chairperson
