NUM: NUM and Samancor concludes a 3-year wage agreement

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and Samancor concluded a 3-years wage agreement today.

The agreement covers all the Samancor mines operations in Rustenburg known as Samancor Western Chrome and Samancor Eastern Chrome mine.

The NUM also concluded a 3-years wage agreement for Samancor three smelters i.e. Tubatse, Ferromentals and Middleburg.

The details of the agreement are as follows:

Mines

1. Wages

With effect from 01 July 2015 employees in category/grades A4 to C4 will receive an increase calculated on the employee's actual wage as from 30 June 2015.

C1         11%
C3        11%
C4        10.7%

The wage increase from 2016/2017 will be 10% and from 2017 to 2018 will be 10%.

The wage agreement also covers other conditions of employment  like medical aid, travelling rate, salary scales, job grades, allowances and skills.


The Smelter’s agreement covers the following

The wage increase in 2016 to2017 will be 10% and from 2017/2018 will be 10%

The agreement also covers other conditions of employment  like Medical aid and transport at Tubatse smelter
