Norton Rose Fulbright names new department heads

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has announced the appointments of department heads in South Africa, bolstering its overall offering to clients.

David Kapelus has assumed co-leadership of the litigation and insurance practice in Norton Rose Fulbright’s Johannesburg office. The firm also announced the appointment of Brent Botha to the role of Disputes Practice Group Leader following former Andrew Robinson’s recent promotion to Chairman.

Marelise van der Westhuizen, CEO of Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa, said:

“We are delighted to announce the appointments of two seasoned lawyers to these posts and look forward to witnessing the continued positive growth of their practice areas over the coming months.”

Kapelus joined the firm in 1990 and specialises in litigation and dispute resolution, including insurance disputes, general liability, rail and transport-related disputes, fires, personal injury litigation, and medical law and malpractice. He has extensive experience in handling major litigation for insurers, brokers and insured entities.

Botha joined Norton Rose Fulbright in 2005 as a candidate attorney and was retained as an associate in the firm’s commercial litigation team in 2007. After three years, he was promoted to director.
