North West: Premier Supra Mahumapelo on launch of Youth Entrepreneurship Services Magazine project

More than 60 young people who are set to benefit from the Youth Entrepreneurship Services (YES) Magazine project have expressed their satisfaction for being part of the new magazine, which will provide them with useful business related information.

The magazine was launched on Saturday during the closing of June Month activities at Ikageleng stadium, Zeerust of Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality. Speaking at the event, North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo encouraged the youth to make use of opportunities that government was creating for them in order to create jobs and better their lives.

Twenty-two year old Kedumetse Mogate from Vryburg said she would use the magazine project to learn more about business.

“My dream is to become one of the successful business women in my district and I see the selling of the magazine as an excellent opportunity to begin my journey.

“My family does not have money to take me to school and I cannot just sit at home doing nothing, I do believe that going out there selling magazines will enable me to interact and meet people who will enable me to fulfil my dream,” she said.

Explaining how the magazine project will benefit young people in the Province, renowned musician and successful entrepreneur, who is also the Managing Director of the Magazine Project, Eugene Mthethwa said more than 60 people will benefit from the distribution of the magazine alone.

He said the magazine sells for R10 and young people selling the magazine keep the money for themselves.

“We will give each young person 500 copies to sell every month. We also want to encourage our youth to engage in business by mentoring them,” he explained.

Itumeleng Makgathole, 33, from Welbedacht township is another aspirant entrepreneur involved with the YES Magazine.

“I have already sold 200 copies of this magazine since this morning. This also gives me an opportunity to hone my business skills,” said Makgathole

He said he will sell the magazine and invest the money in his own business.
