New chairperson of Bowman Gilfillan elected

Jonathan Schlosberg, chairperson of pan-African law firm, Bowman Gilfillan, has announced that Robert Legh has been elected to take over from him as chairperson when his current term ends on 28 February this year.

Legh, who has been with Bowman Gilfillan for 28 years, is a partner in the firm’s corporate department. He is a leading South African competition lawyer who founded Bowman Gilfillan’s competition practice and now heads the firm’s pan-African mining and resources practice.

Schlosberg has been the chairman of Bowman Gilfillan for 10 years but elected not to stand for re-election for a third term, saying: “I believe it is important and in the best interests of the firm to make space for new leaders .” He will be staying on as a partner in the firm.

“I have no doubt that Rob is eminently qualified to lead the firm,” said Schlosberg,  “and I am sure that he will lead the Bowman Gilfillan Africa Group, which now has over 400 lawyers with offices in five countries on the African continent, to continuing and increasing success.”
