Nehawu wishes Sasco well for its congress

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) takes this opportunity to wish our reliable ally the South African Students Congress (Sasco) a successful 20th National Congress. The congress will be held at the Soweto campus of the University of Johannesburg under the theme “2017; the year of Oliver Tambo, the year of free education. Dismantling the doors of learning and culture”

As Nehawu, we hope that the congress will be characterised by robust debates on how Sasco can continue with its role of being a reliable revolutionary organ assigned with the responsibility of mobilising the student community behind a transformational agenda. We are looking forward to the resolutions of congress more especially on Sasco’s plan to intensify the Right to Learn campaign.

The national union remain steadfast in its support for the Right to learn campaign and will fight side by side with Sasco for the realisation of free education in the country. We are inspired by the role that Sasco continues to play and we see it as an instrument to champion working class interest in the higher education sector.

Our General Secretary, Cde Zola Saphetha, will address the Congress tomorrow at 11am at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus.
