NEHAWU: NEHAWU congratulates Cosatu for a succesful 13th National Congress

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] congratulates the Congress of South African Trade Unions [COSATU] for hosting a successful and united 13th National Congress which ended today 20th September 2018. The Congress was held under the theme “Deepen the back to basics campaign, consolidate the struggle for the National Democratic Revolution and advance the struggle for socialism”.

The congress was characterised by robust and frank discussions on how to rebuild COSATU and ensure that it continues championing the interests of workers against the super exploitative employers. As NEHAWU, we are inspired by the quality of debates that ensued at the congress especially on the unity of all workers and the need to wage a relentless war against the owners of the means of productions. NEHAWU applauds all delegates for maintaining discipline throughout the congress.

Delegates exercised a great deal of democracy and elected a leadership collective that shall carry the hopes of workers until the next congress. We congratulates the new leadership and wish them well in their new responsibilities. We have faith in this leadership and trust it to lead the organisation with discipline and commitment to grow COSATU both qualitatively and quantitatively. Going forward we will redouble our efforts in the struggle to provide quality service to members and organizing the unorganized and we will not tire until there is attainment of socialism and the dictatorship of the proletariat.

NEHAWU hopes and trusts that workers will emerge out of this congress ready to implement their resolutions to defend their interests and pursue their goals and dreams, including those of the working class in general.
