National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete MP, to unpack how legislation has assisted in improving the lives of women in our country.

National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete, will address a conference on the status of women in South Africa – from pre-1994 to date.

The conference organised under the theme, “Eliminating violence against women and children with a focus on ‘Inter-sectoral approaches and actions’, is organised by the Guguletu based Ilitha Labantu. About 200 women from NGO’s, government and business - across the country - will gather to debate, share ideas and experiences.

The conference will be held from 26 to 28 November 2014.

Ilitha Labantu is a social service and educational organisation, which was established 24 years ago. Its focus is on addressing violence against women and children and supports those affected by it in communities and the rural areas.
