Multi-Party Charter formally welcomes ACDP

Members of Multi-Party Charter for SA

The members of the Multi-Party Charter for South Africa on Thursday formally welcomed the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) as the Charter’s newest member.

The Multi-Party Charter said only by uniting could it unseat the African National Congress (ANC) and bring in a “capable, accountable, caring government” to address South Africa’s challenges.

Parties already part of Charter include the Democratic Alliance, Inkatha Freedom Party, ActionSA, Freedom Front Plus, United Independent Movement, Spectrum Party and the Independent SA National Civic Organisation.

“The leaders of the eight Charter parties reaffirmed their commitment to the Charter’s vision of ‘A new government to build a just, inclusive and prosperous South Africa based on opportunity, freedom and security for all of its citizens’,” said the Multi-Party Charter.

The group also reiterated the need to grow the economy and create jobs, while also ending loadshedding and achieving energy security.

The Multi-Party Charter’s priorities for a new coalition government are also achieving law and order that combats crime, corruption and drugs; and ensuring quality education.

The members aim to deliver basic services through high-quality infrastructure, build a professional public service, end cadre deployment, and ensure quality healthcare.

The Multi-Party Charter urged South Africans to check that they are correctly registered to vote in the 2024 elections.
