Multi-million road upgrade to improve road safety

10th April 2017

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Dr Ismail Vadi will on Tuesday, 11 April 2017, launch the rehabilitation project of R28 Road - a single carriageway between Sebokeng and Westonaria.

The project is located in the South West of Johannesburg, between the Golden Highway (P73, N1) and N12 (P3/6). The road serves as a bypass to Johannesburg from the south towards North West Province and beyond. It also serves as a collector/distributor for the rural area along the route.

The R230 million road project is envisioned to improve vehicle and pedestrian safety, improve travel time as well as create job opportunities for the local community.

The project scope will cover approximately 29.24KM and includes the restoration of road markings and signage as well as construction of new drainage structure.

The upgrading of the road will improve pedestrian traffic safety and result in increased motorised road user capacity
