The Minister of Mineral Resources will on Tuesday, 13 February 2018, hand over boreholes with recently discovered clean ground-water to the local municipality in Beaufort West.

The water was found by the Council for Geoscience* while the entity was conducting research in the area. Preliminary results have indicated that the water is of good quality for drinking and other uses.

The handover of the resource to the municipality is expected to bring about some drought relief by ensuring that the people of Beaufort West have access to this resource.
