Minister Rob Davies visits Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone, 23 Mar

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies will visit the Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone (SBIDZ) as part of the “Taking Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) to the Factories” campaign. The visit will take place on Monday, 23 March 2015 in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape starting at 9h00. Members of the media are invited to cover the event.

The purpose of the visit is to establish a task team that will explore opportunities that are being presented by the oil rigs that are visiting South Africa, especially Saldanha Bay.

The Saldanha IDZ is a 126-hectare zone with the deepest natural port in the southern hemisphere. It is a designated oil and gas, marine repair engineering and logistics services complex offering firms corporate tax rate and ease of doing business benefits.

The “Taking the dti to the Factories” campaign is an initiative of the dti which aims to determine the outcomes and impact of some of the measures government has put in place with regards to the promotion of economic growth in South Africa and new opportunities that can be explored.

The Chief Executive Officers and Chairpersons of the boards of South African Bureau of Standards, National Metrology Institute of South Africa, South African National Accreditation System and National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications will accompany Minister Davies on the visit.
