Minister in the Presidency, Mr Jeff Radebe, to host the New Climate Economy Seminar and Launch in South Africa at the Wits Club, Thursday, 18 September 2014

Cape Town - The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate released the New Climate Economy report globally on 16 September 2014. To mark the occasion, the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate together with the National Planning Commission and the British High Commission will host a launch and workshop for the Report in South Africa.

 

The seminar will be hosted by the Minister in the Presidency: Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, Mr JT Radebe. A general overview presentation will be introduced by Mr Trevor Manuel, as a Commissioner of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate. The British High Commissioner Judith Macgregor will also speak to the importance of this report. This will be followed by an expert panel seminar to connect the New Climate Economy report to three particular challenges facing South Africa with regards to climate change namely; cities, land/agriculture and energy.
