MINISTER DAVIES TO LAUNCH FIRST PHASE OF THE REVITALISED R42 MILLION BABELEGI INDUSTRIAL PARK

Members of the media are invited to the launch of the first phase of the revitalised Babelegi Industrial Park by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies. Minister Davies is expected to be joined by the Premier of Gauteng Mr David Makhura and the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Councillor Solly Msimanga.

The R42-million project is part of the Revitalisation of Industrial Parks Programme of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti). The Babelegi Industrial Park has approximately 261 developed units which are available for leasing, and 188 of the units are occupied by firms operating in textiles, engineering, construction, light manufacturing, warehousing and distribution houses.

According to Minister Davies, the main objective of the programme is to accelerate economic development in the lagging regions by attracting business investments to locate in these areas. It is also aimed at supporting job creation in manufacturing and related sectors.
