MEDIA ADVISORY: DEPUTY MINISTER ANDRIES NEL TO ATTEND THE NATIONAL SUMMIT ON CRIME AND VIOLENCE PREVENTION

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Deputy Minister, Mr Andries Nel will participate in the 2-day National Summit on Crime and Violence Prevention convened by the Ministry of Police.
 
In April 2016, Cabinet adopted the White Paper on Safety and Security, which seeks to address crime and violence in a proactive manner, and to promote an integrated approach to safety. The White Paper proposes a “whole government and whole society” approach for the successful implementation of the White Paper hence the requirement for different spheres of government to work together in aligning existing plans and strategies to reflect their contribution.
 
To this effect, in his presentation, Deputy Minister Nel will address the role of local government in the implementation of the White Paper on Safety and Security and linkages with the Integrated Urban Development Framework (IUDF).
