26th January 2015

On Monday, 26 January 2015, Western Cape MEC of Community Safety, Dan Plato, together with Western Cape MEC of Social Development, Albert Fritz will conduct a youth safety walkabout in Manenberg.

The MECs will be joined by officials from the various departments who, together with the help of the Neighbourhood Watch, Community Policing Forum and the Police, will seek to assess and help address problems of safety and drug abuse, particularly among the youth, as well as inform and engage with parents about their role and responsibility towards their children’s development and education.

Various programmes exist within both the Department of Community Safety and the Department of Social Development which provide alternative opportunities for youth at risk to help them rise above current circumstances to improve their lives and help create a better future, better together.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.

All media are invited to attend.
