MEC Maile Tables Clean Audit Report

3rd September 2015

Gauteng MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development will, tomorrow, table the department's 2014/2015 Annual Report at the Gauteng Legislature.

MEC Maile tables this report at a time when the South African economy is undergoing extremely difficult times, with industries such as mining and manufacturing facing enormous strain and challenges.

“These realities have immediate and direct implications for our electoral mandate, whose primary concern is to swing the economic pendulum in favour of the poor. It also means that our efforts to diversify the economy, build new industries and cultivate new markets for our goods and commodities must be magnified”, said MEC Maile

Despite these challenges the department has managed to achieve most of its targets set in the previous financial year.

Some of the issues that MEC Maile will touch on include:
·         The township economy
·         Trade and investment
·         Job creation
·         Township entrepreneurship

Details of the tabling are as follows:

Date: Friday 04 September 2015

Time: 10:50

Venue: Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Corner President and Loveday Streets, JHB
