MEC Belinda Scott celebrates 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children, 25 Nov

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Finance, Belinda Scott, who is also a champion MEC for uMgungundlovu District will on Tuesday, 25 November 2014 in partnership with the district Mayor, Yusuf Bhamjee, and local municipality mayors, host events to celebrate a worldwide campaign to oppose violence against women and children.

The day starts at Edendale Ecumenical Lay Centre where the MEC, Mayors and community members under the Operation Sukuma Sakhe umbrella will unite and participate in the drive to increase awareness of the negative impact of violence and abuse on women and children.

Afterwards MEC and mayors will join men at Brumville in a peaceful Walk Against Gender-Based Violence and Substance Abuse in a bid of sensitizing residents in the area of the effects of abuse against women and children.

All South Africans are encouraged to be part of the different celebrations around the country under the theme - ‘Count me in, together moving a non violent South Africa’.
