KZN: MEC Mchunu welcomes 20 years arrest imprisonmenr handed to murder of taxi operation

KWAZULU-NATAL MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr. Willies Mchunu, has welcomed the 20 year-long imprisonment meted out against the assassin who murdered iNanda taxi operator.
Nkosingiphile “Skhokho” Mchunu (33) was convicted and sentenced by the Ntuzuma Magistrate court for killing iNanda based taxi operator, Mr. Sbusiso Nene.
He was sentenced to 20 years for murder, 5 years for possession of illegal firearm and 5 years for possession of ammunition.


Nene was killed in December 2014 at his residence, when Mchunu approached and opened fire at him.  Community members who witnessed the incident, gave chase and reported the incident to the police, who reacted swiftly.


The case was then handed over to the Provincial Taxi violence task team for further investigation.
His murder sparked outrage and resulted to tensions to the taxi industry in the area.
Welcoming this sentence, MEC Mchunu said it came at the right time when government was working flat-out toKWAZULU-NATAL MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr. Willies Mchunu, has welcomed the 20 year-long imprisonment meted out against the assassin who murdered iNanda taxi operator.
