THE KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, has expressed serious concerns at the ongoing conflict in Bulwer, which has led to the closure of the local high school, urging local leadership to do everything possible to rectify this situation.

Preliminary report reveals that on Friday (31 July 2015) educators from the local high school vacated the school premises after learners from Mafameni area and Bazini area fought within the premises. This feud started when there was a community gathering in Mafameni over the weekend.

The other feud is between learners from Ndaleni, Ndodeni and Gxalingenwa area. This incident has disturbed the learning processes as some of the educators are refusing to go back to school fearing for their lives.

Today, described this situation as disturbing as it had a potentially negative impact on the learning process in the area.

“This incident really disturbs everyone and is not good for learners. In this regard, I wish to urge the community and all the stakeholders, including the School Governing Bodies and Traditional leadership to assist us in bringing this matter to an end so that all things go back to normality,” said Mchunu.
