THE KWAZULU-NATAL MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, has noted with concern the callous murder of a Nigerian pastor in Empangeni, who was shot and killed by suspects at his home last week.

While details of the incident remain a subject of investigations, reports suggest that Kehinde Fabamifobbe, 51, was attacked and shot three times at his home in Section H2, Eskhaleni, Empangeni.
Fabamifobbe was a pastor at the God’s Love International Ministries.

At this stage, the motive for the murder is unknown and the police are investigating.

Today (24 May 2015), Mchunu expressed anger, shock and deplored this despicable murder, appealing to anyone who might have any information that might lead to arrests of those responsible to come forward immediately.

He was extremely taken aback since the pastor’s murder occurred against the backdrop of the recent attacks on foreign nationals in the country and province and tomorrow being Africa Day.
“I am deeply shocked by the murder of this pastor. It is totally abhorrent, senseless and inhumane. We condemn it and we will follow it until there is an arrest and conviction.

“I would like to call on the community to give the police an opportunity to work on this matter so that those responsible for this act should be brought to justice.
“I am assured that members of the police are working around the clock to ensure that those who are responsible for this cold-blooded murder are brought to justice as soon as possible,” said Mchunu.

He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Fabamifobbe.
