The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] is convening a press conference on tomorrow [Monday October 08, 2018] to communicate the programme of action and details of the nation-wide strike action at the South African Social Security Agency [SASSA] which is set to commence on Wednesday October 10, 2018.

The strikes comes as a result of the refusal by the SASSA management to resolve the challenges brought about by the migration of the Social Grant Payment System from Cash Paymaster Services [CPS] to the South African Post Office [SAPO]. These challenges include the introduction of Biometric Enrolment of beneficiaries and staff, Grant Business process and SOCPEN fraud.
