IFP: Statement by Peter Smith, IFP Spokesperson on Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, welcomes the leadership changes in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality (13/03/2013)

13th March 2013

The IFP welcomes the decision taken by the ANC in finally applying itself to
the notoriously dysfunctional Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality.

IFP Spokesperson on Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr
Peter Smith, MP, said that, "the removal of Zanoxolo Wayile as Mayor and the
resignation of regional chairperson Nceba Faku, might, if the residents of
the sorely-tested municipality are lucky, result in something positive".

He called on the MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in
the Eastern Cape, Mr Mlibo Qoboshiyane to ensure that the situation at the
municipality is not one of business-as-usual and to take steps to ensure
that functional governance is prioritised.
